This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and process personal data when you visit our website at www.turingcollege.com (the “Website”), apply to our courses, participate in our admissions process, or otherwise interact with us.

This Privacy Policy applies to the products, services, content, features, technologies and functions offered by Turing College, together with any related websites, applications and services (collectively, the “Services”).

Where our processing of personal data relies on your consent, we will request that consent separately at the relevant point of collection.

We collect personal data that you provide when you use our Website, apply for our courses, participate in the admissions process, or communicate with us.

Where you provide your explicit consent, we may record audio of admissions interviews. Consent is requested when you register for the interview and reconfirmed at the start of any recorded session. You may decline recording, in which case the interview will proceed without recording.

Where video-based admissions tools are used, we may also collect audio or video responses, written responses, and related metadata submitted as part of the admissions process.

2. Information collected automatically when you use the Website

When you visit the Website, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • your IP address;

  • device type, operating system and platform;

This information typically includes business contact details, such as name, job title, company name, business email address and business telephone number.

  • to operate, maintain and improve the Website and our services;
  • to analyse how the Website and services are used;

  • to support internal administration, research and statistical analysis.

3. Admissions assessment

  • to review and assess course applications;
  • where you provide consent, to record admissions interviews and generate transcripts or notes to support fair and consistent admissions decisions;
  • to assess responses submitted through video-based admissions tools used during the admissions process.

We may use automated transcription tools provided by our conferencing platforms to convert interview recordings into written transcripts. These tools assist our review process but do not make automated decisions, and admissions decisions are always made by human reviewers.

4. Communications and marketing

  • to send updates, newsletters or other information about our activities where permitted by law or where you have opted in to receive such communications.

5. Legal and administrative purposes

  • to comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and
  • to manage complaints, disputes or legal claims.

We process personal data on one or more of the following lawful bases: your consent, the performance of a contract or steps taken before entering into a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.

Marketing conducted by Turing College 

We may use your personal data to send you information about Turing College courses, services, events or other updates that may be of interest to you.

These communications may be sent by email, phone, SMS, messaging services (such as WhatsApp) or post, in accordance with applicable marketing laws.

Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before sending marketing communications. In other cases, we may rely on our legitimate interests to send marketing communications about our services, provided that you have not objected to receiving such communications.

We may use your business contact information (e.g., name, job title, work phone, and business email) for direct marketing outreach, including calls and emails, based on our legitimate interest or your consent, depending on where you are located: 

  • United Kingdom: We rely on our legitimate interest to engage in B2B outreach, provided your number is not registered on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and you have not objected. We also comply with PECR. 
  • Germany: We only contact you if you have given explicit, informed consent in advance (double opt-in), unless you are an existing customer and the communication concerns similar products/services consistent with Section 7(3) UWG. 
  • Lithuania: We only contact you for marketing calls if you have given prior opt-in consent, separate from any contractual terms and are fully informed.

We will not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes unless you have given your consent.

Where we obtain your contact details from a third-party provider for business-to-business marketing, you have the right to request information about the source of your personal data.

Some third-party platforms (such as Calendly, VideoAsk, Zoom) used during the admissions process (such as scheduling, video conferencing or assessment tools) may process certain personal data as independent controllers in accordance with their own privacy policies.

We may also disclose personal data:

  • in connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets; or
  • where necessary to comply with legal obligations, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, property or safety of Turing College, our users or others.

Where we store and transfer your personal data

Your personal data may be processed and stored by Turing College or by our service providers. In some cases, this may involve transferring personal data to countries outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

We require third-party service providers who process personal data on our behalf to implement appropriate security measures and to process personal data only in accordance with our instructions and applicable data protection laws.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, the transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to the Website. 

If you have been given (or have chosen) a password to access certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential.

Retaining personal data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and to comply with our legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.

In most cases, we retain personal data for up to six (6) years, for example to meet legal, accounting or regulatory requirements. In some circumstances, we may retain certain information for longer where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Admissions-related data is retained only for as long as necessary for the admissions process and related administrative purposes. Retention periods are calculated from the date on which an admissions decision is made.

  • VideoAsk audio and video responses are retained while a candidate has access to the admissions process and, for unsuccessful candidates, for up to 12 months after the admissions decision date.
  • Audio-only interview recordings are retained for up to 30 days after the admissions decision date for unsuccessful applicants and up to 120 days after the admissions decision date for successful applicants.
  • Interview transcripts and notes are retained for unsuccessful applicants for up to 12 months after the admissions decision date, and for successful applicants for the duration of the learning relationship plus up to six (6) years, unless a longer retention period is required for complaints, legal claims, or regulatory obligations.

Your rights

Under applicable data protection laws, you have certain rights in relation to your personal data. These include the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances;
  • request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
  • object to processing, including processing for direct marketing purposes; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
